According to the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, France’s energy target is 18.2 to 20.2 GW by the end of 2023. Accordingly, the country has started to take multiple actions to reach its planned target. So far, a total of more than 10 GW of cumulated photovoltaic capacity was achieved after the first six months of 2020.
By the end of 2020, the annual installed #PV capacity in France was 973 MW. If France was to meet its 2023 #solar PV target, it would need to triple that amount (almost 3 GWs per year). Just as the previous target of 10.2 GW by 2018 was only achieved with a delay of about 1.5 years, it is to be expected that France may not reach its 2023 PV target in time as well.
